SHAH ALAM: A 30-metre stretch of road between a construction site and Taman Putra Harmoni will be closed to assist in the investigation into the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire.Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the road is under the management of the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ)."This road was previously open for use, but it will be closed to facilitate the police investigation and allow technical teams to gather data to further understand the incident and what happened.

"It is also to determine who should be held accountable for the issue," he said at a press conference at the Selangor State Assembly building, here.Amirudin also said that his team has also met with several industry players to assess any additional needs."Petronas has also presented several proposed plans to restore gas supply, especially to industries, as quickly as possible.

"An initial report indicated that gas supply could be restored by April 20, but in today's meeting, we saw that there are several issues and needs that the relevant parties need to address," he said.Amirudin also said that Petronas has assured that the continuity of energy supply within the state would not be affected."They also assured that the factory operations would not be impacted or disrupted by this incident.

Although there was no damage to the factory, their operations were still affected due to the disruption in the gas supply," he said.On April 1, a massive fire broke out at a Petronas gas pipeline in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, causing widespread panic as flames shot up in the air. The heat from the flames — visible from kilometres away — melted plastic and metal within a wide radius of the pipeline.
