The Belfast writer tells us about the Lagan inspiration for his new book Kerry Whelan S ee You On The Other Side was originally meant to be one of several short stories set on the River Lagan between Belfast and Lisburn, inspired by the Lagan Valley as a beautiful setting. I wanted to write a tale that portrayed life on the Lagan canal in its prime, to show the characters, social dilemmas, and divides of the time. Set around the First World War, it triggered my imagination to tell a story that could be enjoyed by everyone, but historically authentic while mirroring the culture of the era.
