The city of Austin is set to experience an array of weather conditions in the coming days. According to the National Weather Service , today's cloudy skies are just a prelude to heavy showers and thunderstorms that are expected to drench the city later in the afternoon. With an 80% chance of rain and new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible, residents should be prepared for wet conditions and possibly thunderous disturbances.

The meteorological outlook doesn't improve much for tonight, either. The forecast promises a 90% likelihood of showers and potential thunderstorms lingering into the night, accompanied by patchy fog. Trying to navigate through the city, gusts of wind as high as 20 mph might challenge people, with additional rainfall between three-quarters and one inch in store.

As we transition to the weekend, while temperatures range from lows in the 60s to highs in the 80s, variable skies signal intermittent relief from the rain, although chances of precipitation persist. Friday offers no respite from the deluge with a definite 100% chance of precipitation in the form of more showers and thunderstorms that are slated to continue throughout the day. South-southeast winds will prevail at 5 to 10 mph, ushering in new rainfall that could total between three-quarters to an inch.

Foggy conditions are anticipated between morning and noon, potentially affecting visibility for early commuters. Heading into Friday evening, the frequency of thunderstorms should decline before 7 pm, shifting to a minor chance of showers and storms later. The night's forecast calls for patchy fog post-midnight, another hazard for late wanderers, with the south-southeast winds thankfully tapering to a gentle 5 mph.

A moderate chance of more precipitation is indicated, with a 60% chance predicted by forecasters. For those looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday morning might start with some fog, but the day is forecast to clear somewhat, with partly sunny skies and a high of 84 degrees. Subsequent evenings will experience mostly cloudy conditions, and temperatures will consistently hover in the mid-60s.

Sunday's weather appears to be partially sunny with highs potentially reaching 88 degrees and a continuing trend of partly cloudy nights ensuing. As we venture into next week, starting Monday, Austin can anticipate a mostly sunny day with temperatures in the upper 80s and gentle winds undergoing a directional shift in the afternoon. Those evening skies will be partly cloudy, giving way to a partly sunny Tuesday with highs again approaching the high 80s, and a balmy night forecast with temperatures in the upper 60s.

Wednesday promises to be the warmest day in this stretch, with a high nearing 92 degrees under partly sunny conditions. While the week ahead will have its share of inclement weather, some sunshine awaits Austinites beyond the storms..
