Sometimes I think about what it is that gives some beauty collaborations the edge over others. Which are the ones that spark that insatiable tickle, that nudge, that urge to get my hands on them right now . What’s for sure is that a truly chic beauty collaboration isn’t just about placing two brand names on some limited edition packaging and calling it a lovely day.

Nope, the best collaborations, when put together, seem to have a magic alchemy - two forces united to create something greater than the sum of their (perhaps already fabulous) parts. Or at least to give us that impression while they are stacked on our shelves. A cool collab might, for example, come in the form of something impossibly stylish, and beautiful.

It may have packaging so exquisite that you’ll definitely keep it on display as an objet when you’ve eeked out that last drop, thereby justifying the splurge. It could deliver the thrill of something totally fresh that you haven’t thought of, seen, or tried before. Augustinus Bader’s latest collab with hairbrush brand La Bonne Brosse is a case in point.

Bader is of course the purveyor of most excellent skin and haircare, and Bonne Brosse the French hairbrush producer which crafts incredibly beautiful and sustainable brushes in the Oise and Jura regions of France. The hair tools, which come in a rainbow array of chic pastels, with handles crafted from cellulose acetate - a material produced from cotton flowers and wooden beads. The Limited Edition Augustinus Bader x La Bonne Brosse hairbrush is a novel incarnation of the N.

04 The Miracle Detangling Scalp Brush. Arriving in glossy Bader-blue, it is to be paired with Bader’s advanced haircare for supercharged results. Meticulously designed, this gem of a tool works its way through knots with ease, minimising breakages for smoother, shinier, healthier hair.

Meanwhile, the brush’s soft, massaging fibers are carefully positioned to simulate the scalp’s blood vessels, nourishing the hair bulbs from the roots. What do you think? Great hair begins with a great brush, after all. And maybe a little Bader magic too.
