While the features and quality justify the cost for professionals, some may find it a high entry point, especially considering the optional subscription plans for the app. I just started my own podcast. I’ve wanted to for a long time and just a couple of weeks ago, I took the plunge.
I sat down at my desk with some notes about what I wanted to talk about, set up my gigantic USB , and recorded onto my computer. While this is functional, it’s not entirely practical. My subject matter (comic convention volunteering) lends itself to recording on-site events, but aside from just talking into my iPhone, I didn’t really have a good option for recording.

The Audigo app is currently only available for iOS devices, but according to , they plan on releasing an Android version in 2025. The Audigo comes in a simple but sturdy retail box. It comes with a magnetic mount and a USB-C cable.
The magnetic mount has a 5/8” thread for use with standard microphone stands, but the base of the magnet also has a 1/4” thread for use with tripod mounts. Within a few minutes of unboxing the Audigo microphone, I was doing test recordings into the Audigo app. When testing audio recording devices, I’ve found the best thing to do is just record yourself speaking or reading something.
You want to try and keep your voice tone and level as even as possible so that you can test how accurate the microphone is in different recording positions. For the Audiogo, I knew the microphone was on the front of the unit. The Audigo recording device is designed to be versatile and useable anywhere.
The compact style of this microphone is astounding. One of the best physical features of the Audigo is its magnetic base and mount. It’s very convenient especially when you are trying to place it in a specific direction.
Audigo is not a 360-degree microphone. Users do, however, have the option to select between a directional microphone or variable-width stereo microphone by adjusting settings after a recording is complete. As far as recording quality goes, I was very impressed with its output.
I recorded myself speaking in a closed office, that was isolated but not soundproof. I placed it on my desk so that it was pointing at me, but it was about 12 inches below my mouth. The recording quality was good, but not studio quality.
While I wouldn’t use that option as a voiceover, I would use it for note-taking. The audio was clear and I could understand what I was saying, but it wasn’t professional sounding. Next, I left the Audigo on my desk but turned it upward so that the microphone was pointed at me.
It was still below me at approximately the same distance, but the sound quality was markedly improved and louder. It didn’t sound as muffled as the first test. Finally, I picked up the microphone and lifted it to the level of my mouth.
I was shocked at how much better it sounded. I was expecting it to be 5-10% better, but it was probably 25-30% better than having the microphone sitting below me. The Audigo microphone was able to pick up ambient noise, but air handling didn’t seem to be an issue.
During my tests, I paused speaking a few times to see if it would pick up the air conditioner that was running, but I couldn’t hear it on the recording. I also turned on some music at a low volume and while I could hear that under my talking, it didn’t cover my sound. My voice was still the primary track on the recording.
I also tested out the video recording feature in the Audigo app. This was SUPER cool to test out. I had to give permission to the app to use my iPhone’s camera, but when I did, I had the ability to switch video modes and record the video and audio together inside Audigo.
I did have to export the file from the app rather than it appear in my Photos library, but I actually prefer that as an option. The app gives the user a very easy recording option along with some editing functions. I love this because it makes it possible to record quickly and finish it right there in the app.
The editor is only for audio so if you shoot video with the Audigo app, aside from cropping the length of the footage, you don’t have any control over the video part of your recording. Audigo is an excellent tool for creators looking for a portable, high-quality audio solution. Its wireless mic and intuitive iOS app offer flexibility and ease of use, making it possible to record remotely without sacrificing sound quality.
