Auburn's Johni Broome exits Elite Eight game with elbow injury, returns after X-rays are negative

Auburn forward Johni Broome went down with an apparent elbow injury during Sunday’s Elite Eight matchup against Michigan State. Broome, the SEC player of the year, jumped to block a shot attempt of a Michigan State player and came down awkwardly, immediately grabbing his elbow. Broome, 22, walked off the floor under his own power to the locker room but returned at the 5:29 mark, immediately knocking in a 3-pointer.

Broome’s injury occurred at the 10:37 mark of the second half, with the Tigers clinging to a 50-40 lead and trying to hold off the Spartans to book a trip to the Final Four. Broome exited the game with 22 points and 12 rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting from the field.
