For Rebellion, their latest day-one title Atomfall is both immensely popular and set to land amongst the best Xbox Game Pass games ! So, this list combines Wave 1 and Wave 2 releases from March 2025.
We've counted the unique player numbers from the opening seven days — the 'debut' period — to ensure all games have the same time to perform. It arrived with Game Pass's Wave 2 for March and is sitting very pretty on top of the pile.
It's the second most popular Game Pass game of 2025 so far , behind only Avowed which had an expectedly gigantic debut when it launched in February 2025. Well, Atomfall was 237.8% more popular amongst our representative sample than Mullet Madjack (the second most popular game from March 2025).
That is a staggering level above any of the other games and speaks to the considerable reach that Atomfall saw during its pre-release period. It was often mischaracterized as "British Fallout," but that tag probably did wonders for helping get people to check it out! Atomfall Game Pass players While I was perusing the data, I found that Atomfall was also 28.8% more popular than all the other games in this list put together .
That should give you a much better indication of just how successful this day-one launch has been. It helps that it's a great game too, as Tom said in his Atomfall review it is great to have a survival game focussed on narrative rather than being crushingly tough! For the rest of the breakdown, I wanted to break down the tiers of popularity on this list. Mullet Mudjack had 60% more players than third-placed One Lonely Outpost , making it a clear second favorite in terms of popularity.
In fact, from that #3 place to #5 with Enter the Gungeon, the games are all playing in the same ballpark of player numbers within our sample. Both Mythwrecked and Monster Train are also practically inseparable at #6 and #7, but are well ahead of the games in the final three spots. Train Sim World 5, Octopath Traveler II, and Galacticare were all well below the popularity levels of the other games.
I'm particularly surprised at Octopath Traveller II, which I'd regard as a high-quality game with immense popularity. However, it was entering Game Pass Standard for the second time — it might well be that players who wanted to check it out already had!
