Atishi takes over as Delhi's eighth CM, succeeding Arvind Kejriwal

Atishi oath ceremony: Atishi has been sworn in as Delhi's new Chief Minister, leading the Aam Aadmi Party government until February 2025. She succeeds Arvind Kejriwal, who resigned following a corruption case. Atishi, an Oxford graduate and former education adviser, will focus on pending welfare schemes and upcoming assembly elections.

Delhi on Saturday got its new Chief Minister as Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP ) leader Atishi was sworn-in to lead the national capital till February 2025, when the term of this government is scheduled to end. Leitenant General VK Saxena administered oath of Atishi alongside her new team of Ministers which includes veterans Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain and a fresh face, Mukesh Ahlawat. Atishi was chosen unanimously as the Chief Minister designate during the AAP legislature party meeting on Tuesday, following Arvind Kejriwal's resignation, which changed Delhi's political landscape.

According to the AAP, the name is a portmanteau of Marx and Lenin.
