A blast at 7:47 am near the CRPF school in Prashant Vihar, Rohini, shocked local residents and led to widespread concerns over security. The explosion damaged the school wall, shattered the windows of nearby cars, and destroyed shop hoardings in the vicinity. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The Delhi Police , along with multiple investigative agencies, immediately launched a probe into the incident. A case under the Explosives Act has been registered, and forensic teams, including sniffer dogs, have been deployed at the blast site to search for clues. According to initial reports, a crude bomb may have been used, but forensic experts are still examining the scene.
Delhi Police have confirmed that no definitive cause has been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police are also scanning CCTV footage in the area to identify any suspects. CM Atishi Blames BJP for Security Lapses Delhi Chief Minister Atishi was quick to react to the blast, taking to social media to criticize the BJP-led central government for the law and order situation in the national capital.
The Union Home Ministry, which oversees Delhi Police, has been a point of contention between the Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi. In a post on X, Atishi stated, "The responsibility to maintain law and order in Delhi is with BJP's central government. But BJP ignores this and uses its time to disrupt the work of Delhi's elected governments.
This is why Delhi's situation is now that of Mumbai during the era of the Underworld. Bullets are being fired in the open, gangsters are extorting money and criminals are upbeat. The BJP neither has the intent nor the ability (to handle this).

"If by mistake, Delhiites give them (BJP) charge of Delhi government, the condition of hospitals, power, and water supply will become the same as the law and order situation in Delhi," she added. BJP Dismisses Atishi's Claims Responding to Atishi’s sharp criticism, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi accused her of politicizing the issue.
Ilmi told NDTV, "The puppet CM is known for this. If you make her speak on any topic, it is always about the Centre. Something very serious has happened.
The situation is totally in control. Instead of expressing anxiety about the situation and (thinking) what should be done, a political blame game has begun. It is immature and irresponsible to always do politics on serious issues.
" Ongoing Investigation: No Final Conclusions Yet Delhi Police have heightened security across the capital, particularly in market areas, as Diwali approaches. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG) are also involved in the probe, alongside Delhi Police's Special Cell. A forensic team collected samples from the blast site to determine the material used in the explosion.
Preliminary findings indicate a crude bomb might have been used, but a final report from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) is awaited. Delhi Police PRO Sanjay Tyagi commented on the investigation, saying, "The police team quickly reached the spot, where they detected a foul smell and found broken window panes and glass within the school premises. Senior officers, along with experts from the Forensic Department, Crime Team, and Special Cell, are conducting the investigation.
" Tyagi emphasized that the cause is still being ascertained, adding, "It will not be right to give a conclusive statement till the investigation is completed." Police are not ruling out the possibility of a conspiracy and are mapping the area while reviewing CCTV footage. A white powder-like substance was discovered at the blast site, raising suspicions about the materials used in the explosion.
The investigation is expected to intensify in the coming days. BJP Leader Visits the Site Vijender Gupta, BJP MLA from Rohini, visited the blast site on Sunday and expressed concern over the incident. Speaking to NDTV, Gupta said, "It is a relief that no one was harmed.
It was a big blast." He added that he is awaiting further details from the investigation to understand the full extent of the situation. Political Tensions Rise Ahead of Elections The timing of the incident has added political fuel to the fire, with Delhi state elections just months away in February.
AAP, which has governed Delhi for a decade, is seeking a third consecutive term. Arvind Kejriwal, the party’s leader, resigned from the Chief Minister's post last month following his arrest in a corruption case related to Delhi’s now-scrapped liquor policy. He has vowed to return to the top office if re-elected by the people.
Atishi, a senior AAP leader, has since taken over as Chief Minister, and the party has made governance and law and order key campaign issues. The Rohini blast and subsequent political tensions reflect the growing strain between Delhi’s state government and the BJP-led central government, as both sides prepare for a heated election campaign. For now, the investigation into the blast remains the priority, as authorities work to ensure security in the national capital.
