FAIRFIELD — "The Amateur" features Rami Malek as an introverted decoder for the CIA whose life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack. He takes matters into his own hands, with his intelligence being the ultimate weapon. "Outlander's" Caitriona Balfe and Laurence Fishburne are featured.

The film is rated PG-13. The thriller "Drop" also arrives on screens across the country on Friday. Emmy nominee Meghann Fahy plays a widowed mother on her first date in years.



She arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date is more charming and handsome than she expected. She gets a series of anonymous drops to her phone and is told to follow instructions or the hooded figure she sees on her home security cameras. If not, her young son and babysitting sister will be killed.

He shares the ultimate story of hope and redemption: the life of Jesus Christ. Through young Walter's vivid imagination, the story comes to life, from the nativity to the resurrection. The film is rated PG.

"Zero," which is set in the heart of Dakar where two Americans wake to a nightmare: bombs strapped to their chests and they only have 10 hours before they explode. Their only hope for survival is to listen to the instructions of a mysterious voice on the phone, forcing them to complete a series of bizarre and perilous tasks across the city. The film is rated R.

"Gunslingers," which stars Stephen Dorff, Heather Graham and Nicolas Cage in the tale of the most wanted man in America who surfaces in a small Kentucky town. His violent history and a blood-thirsty mob seeking vengeance and a king’s ransom follow. As brothers face off against one another and bullets tear the town to shreds, this lightning-fast gunslinger makes his enemies pay the ultimate price for their greed.

The film is rated R. "Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing," the animated tale of a high school musician who can enter a mysterious place called “SEKAI,” where she and her friends express their innermost emotions through music alongside Hatsune Miku. One day after giving a live performance, she meets a new Miku that she has never seen before.

No matter how hard this new Miku tries to sing, she struggles connecting with the hearts of her listeners. The film is not rated. "Psycho Therapy: The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write About a Serial Killer," which brings Steve Buscemi to the screen in a comedy about a writer who befriends a retired serial killer in a desperate attempt to find inspiration for his next novel and save his marriage.

The film is not rated. "One to One: John & Yoko," a documentary about the 18 months John Lennon and Yoko Ono spent living in Greenwich Village in the early 1970s. It features never-before-seen material and newly restored footage of Lennon's only full-length, post-Beatles concert.

Their son, Sean Ono Lennon, did the remastering. The film is not rated. "Sacramento," the tale of a free-spirited guy who convinces a longtime friend to go on an impromptu road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento.

"Mogwai: If the Stars Had a Sound, " a documentary about the Scottish band with the same name who built a cult following. The film begins in the mid-1990s and wraps up as they create their 10th studio album in their hometown of Glasgow in 2020. The film is not rated.

"Marshmallow," which centers on a 12-year-old struggling with nightmares. At a secluded summer camp, he discovers that a campfire story has come to life when a mysterious figure begins stalking the campers. With Corbin Bernsen.
