Aston Villa have been credited with an interest in left-back Luca Pellegrini as their transfer window recruitment drive continues to accelerate. Villa are waiting for a number of their own transfer dominoes to fall into place in the coming days - Ian Maatsen, Samuel Iling-Junior, Enzo Barrenechea and Ross Barkley are all due to follow Lewis Dobbin into Villa. Omari Kellyman and Douglas Luiz, meanwhile, are due to follow Tim Iroegbunam out of Bodymoor Heath imminently , too.

Still, there remain doubts over the futures of a number of first-team squad members as Unai Emery gets quickly to work on how he expects his squad to look ahead of the Premier League season which will be married with a Champions League campaign. The full-back areas are likely to be under examination; each of Lucas Digne, Alex Moreno and Matty Cash have, in turn, been linked with exits already this summer, with a number of clubs on the continent reportedly interested in their services. With Maatsen and Iling-Junior coming into the club, Villa are likely to have an entirely new left side in the new campaign.

Indeed he signed a two-year loan when moving to the Italian capital, but midway through that agreement there is now an element of uncertaint.
