STAFF REPORTER : The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has come under fire for its handling of the recent exam results, with allegations of a lack of transparency and fairness. The APSC authorities have been accused of not disclosing subject-wise marks for each paper, instead only publishing the total marks of candidates. The Assam State Committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has expressed suspicion of significant irregularities in the recently declared results.

The commission's decision not to release the results of the preliminary and main exams separately and to deny candidates access to their answer scripts has further fuelled concerns about the lack of transparency in the evaluation process. This year, authorities did not disclose subject-wise marks (for all six papers) in the mark sheets. On the contrary, in the 2022 APSC results, individual subject marks were provided.

That year, it was revealed that certain candidates secured 90% to 98% marks in the essay papers while scoring only 30% to 35% in other papers. The DYFI has demanded that the APSC ensure transparency in the examination process by providing all necessary information to candidates, publishing complete subject-wise scores in the mark sheets, and allowing access to answer scripts through RTI.
