Assam: ABSU’s 57th annual conference gets underway in Kokrajhar district

OUR CORRESPONDENT The 57th annual conference of the All- Bodo Students Union (ABSU) got underway from today at Bodofa Fwthar, Dotma in Kokrajhar district. The historic conference is dedicated to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, as Dotma is his birth and burial place. The gathering will bring together policy makers, educators, and community leaders for discussions on education, youth development, and long-term progress.

Union Home Minister is set to attend the open session on the last day on March 16, making it a significant occasion. The conference will advance Mission Quality Education (MQE) movement-2030, reinforcing efforts to strengthen academic frameworks and skill-building opportunities. The ‘Education and Youth Conclave’ will focus on strategies to empower students and professionals, while experts will analyze the impact of NEP, 2020 on regional learning.



Perspectives from scholars, policymakers, and industry specialists will shape conversations that seek practical solutions for improving education and employment opportunities. A session dedicated to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma’s vision will examine his contributions to social transformation and cultural preservation. Former ABSU leaders and intellectuals will reflect on his work and outline ways to uphold his legacy.

Another discussion will explore peace, unity, and sustainable development in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and Assam, with a focus on bolstering cooperation between communities. ABSU President Dipen Boro emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “This gathering is a step toward progress, bringing together ideas that can drive real change. Education and empowerment go hand in hand, shaping a future where opportunities are accessible to all.

With leaders, experts and thinkers joining hands, meaningful discussions will lead to concrete steps forward. This is not a mere conference but a platform for collaboration, ensuring that the voices of students, professionals, and policy makers contribute to lasting results. The four-day event will feature sports tournaments, literary contests, a cultural evening, and an exhibition-cum-book fair showcasing Bodo heritage.

Key venues, dedicated to respected personalities, were inaugurated today to honour their contributions. A marathon and traditional performances will add to the vibrant atmosphere. A felicitation ceremony will recognize Padma Shri recipient Dr Anil Boro, Sahitya Akademi awardees, and high achievers in academics.

Outstanding educators will also be honoured for their dedication to shaping young minds. A special segment will acknowledge successful candidates from the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) examinations. The open session on the last day will bring together Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, BTR Chief Executive Member , senior ministers, parliamentarians, and key stakeholders.

Discussions will centre on education, economic initiatives and development programmes, making sure diverse perspectives contribute to forming future policies. Beyond discussions, the conference will serve as a bridge between aspirations and action. While leaders and policy makers set the agenda, the real impact will be seen in the years ahead as ideas turn into initiatives, commitments translate into results, and a collective vision transforms into reality.

On Day 1, ABSU President Dipen Boro said, “With great enthusiasm and unity, we are all set to welcome the Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Bodofa Fwthar, Dotma on March 16. Every corner echoes the spirit of celebration and brotherhood as we are gearing up for this historic event.” Minister UG Brahma inaugurated the Bodofa UN Brahma main pandal.
