FILER — An individual suspected of injuring two people in Twin Falls County was shot and killed Thursday afternoon by a deputy, police say. The incident occurred at about 4:45 p.m.
at a home near Filer, in an unincorporated section of Twin Falls County, in response to a 911 call regarding an aggravated battery with a weapon, according to a news release from the Twin Falls Police Department, which has been named the lead agency investigating the officer-involved shooting. Following the arrival of law enforcement, a deputy discharged his firearm, striking the suspect. Following life-saving efforts, the suspect was pronounced dead on scene, the release said.
The two victims, one of them with serious injuries, were transported to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. Scanner traffic indicated the two victims were stabbed by the assailant, and sought refuge inside a car.
No law enforcement officers were injured. Chief Craig Kingsbury said his department is committed to conducting a thorough and unbiased investigation into the “tragic event.” Seattle Police are hunting for 53-year-old Richard Sitzlack for killing bus driver Shawn Yim.
