SIBU (Jan 9): An Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) was charged in the Magistrates’ Court here today with criminal breach of trust involving over RM263,000. Alina Tommy, 31, who was represented by defence counsel Yap Hoi Liong, was brought before Magistrate Romario Jonoi to face a charge under Section 408 of the Penal Code.

The Section provides for between one and 14 years in prison and caning, as well as a possible fine upon conviction. Based on the charge, she allegedly committed criminal breach of trust involving RM263,296.12 belong to customers between 2020 and March 2024.

No plea was taken from the accused today and she was released on RM10,000 bail with two local sureties. Her plea will be taken in the Sessions Court on Jan 23..
