Ashdown Forest given cash boost to help conserve it

Ashdown Forest receives a £30,000 grant from Wealden District Council to support conservation, visitor services, and community engagement over the next three years.

A forest which served as inspiration for one of the UK's most beloved children's books has been given a cash boost. The Conservators of Ashdown Forest have been awarded £30,000 by Wealden District Council to protect, conserve and enhance the forest's nature and culture, ensuring it remains a site for enjoyment, education, health and recreation. The forest, which was the inspiration behind the Hundred Acre Wood in A.

"It is, of course, a huge challenge to make the forest the wonderful and amazingly popular site that it is today.



"The Conservators do a marvellous job and play such a key role in making this all possible." The money will help with activities such as promoting and assisting visitors, maintaining a five-day-a-week visitor centre, managing health and safety, providing onsite information, organising forest events, delivering free walks, and managing the volunteer programme. Ashdown Forest is owned by the Ashdown Forest Trust and managed by the Conservators.
