THEY came separately from Asean member countries to Myanmar and united in rescue efforts as they headed out largely to Naypyidaw and Mandalay areas, although Sagaing, Magway, Shan State, and Bago also suffered extensive damage and a high number of lives lost following the March 28 7.7-magnitude earthquake. The Urban Search and Rescue unit of the Thai Armed Forces and the Thai Medical Emergency Response (MERT) arrived in the capital, Naypyidaw, and coordinated with their Indonesian and Singaporean counterparts.
