Arunachal: Police Seize 46.11g of Ganja from Civil Secretariat Employee

Itanagar Police arrested Pankaj Lahkar, 53, for possessing 46.11 grams of ganja at the Civil Secretariat during a security check.

In a notable operation, Itanagar District Police apprehended a drug possession suspect at the Civil Secretariat's main gate on April 11 at approximately 1:00 PM. The individual, identified as Pankaj Lahkar, a 53-year-old Dak Runner employed in the Power Department from Nalbari, Assam, was found in possession of 46.11 grams of ganja.

The contraband was found during a routine security check by Head Constable Tago Nguki. Lahkar had the drugs hidden in a black polythene and grey cloth bag. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Capital SP Rohit Rajbir Singh and SDPO Kengo Dirchi, and the seizure was made in the presence of two under secretaries from the Secretariat.



SP Singh praised the professionalism and vigilance of the security personnel involved, citing the police force's dedication to providing a drug-free environment in Itanagar. He added that it was crucial to keep the security on high alert, particularly in sensitive government zones. A probe has been initiated to trace the origin of the seized drugs and identify whether a large-scale drug trafficking operation is on hand.

The police are closely pursuing leads to put an end to the issue of drug activities in the area, complementing their ongoing efforts to put a stop to the use of substances and drug trafficking..
