By Wale Akinselure In an effort to provide low-income Nigerians with access to affordable healthcare, a health-tech social enterprise, Health4Moni, has announced the launch of a campaign to raise N100m. Scheduled to begin on December 20, the initiative, titled, Art4Health, aims to fund a “Cancer and Chronic Care Fund” that will support low- and middle-income Nigerians struggling to afford life-saving treatments. The campaign will kick off with an art exhibition in Ikoyi, Lagos, showcasing works by notable artists such as Ife Olowu, the Painting Prophet, Rosaleen Labazzachy, and 4d Truth.
According to the founder of Health4Moni, Kemi Olakunle, the initiative was inspired by the plight of families grappling with the financial burden of chronic illnesses, often having to sell assets, exhaust their savings, or forgo treatment altogether. “Art4Health is a bold initiative designed to raise N100m for the Cancer and Chronic Care Fund. This fund will provide discounted care and co-payment assistance to 100 Nigerians battling chronic illnesses in 2025,” Olakunle said in a statement.
“Proceeds from the exhibition will be managed strategically to ensure the fund’s sustainability, offering not just immediate relief but a lasting impact on Nigeria’s healthcare system.” Highlighting the connection between art and healing, Olakunle emphasised that each artwork featured in the exhibition tells a story of resilience, hope, and humanity. “Each brushstroke, each piece on display, carries a message: no one should have to choose between health and financial survival,” she said.
The campaign seeks to harness the power of creativity for healthcare advocacy, demonstrating the potential of communities coming together to address shared challenges. “This initiative underscores the belief that everyone deserves a chance to live with dignity, regardless of their economic circumstances,” Olakunle added. Health4Moni is a health-tech social enterprise committed to providing affordable and quality healthcare for underserved Nigerians.
Through innovative financing models and strategic collaborations, the organisation tackles systemic barriers to healthcare access, empowering individuals to lead healthier and more secure lives. The Art4Health campaign not only aims to raise funds but also to spark a conversation about the critical need for equitable healthcare in Nigeria. By leveraging the universal language of art, the campaign seeks to inspire collective action and offer a lifeline to those in desperate need of care.
