Arne Slot holds a press conference at the AXA Training Centre this morning to preview his Liverpool side's Premier League encounter against Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday night. And no doubt he will have a spring in his step after his dream start to life on Merseyside continued. Slot has now won a club-record 14 of his first 16 games in charge of the Reds after his in-form side produced a second-half super show to win 4-0 at home to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday.

That followed a harder-fought 2-1 triumph at home to Brighton & Hove Albion that, combined with Manchester City's 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth, ensured Liverpool moved top of the Premier League table. And it's back to domestic business this weekend with the visit of a Villa side who, like City and Arsenal, are going through something of a wobble having lost their last three matches in all competitions. Reds boss Slot will be asked about the challenge posed by Unai Emery's men and for the injury latest on Alisson Becker , Harvey Elliott , Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota .

And no doubt the Dutchman, as always, will be quizzed on the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold ., Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah , who are now close to entering the final six months of their Liverpool contracts. The press conference gets under way at 9am UK time and Paul Gorst and Ian Doyle will be at the Reds' training base to bring you all the updates.

Arne Slot shows true colours as Liverpool head coach does unthinkable Ultimately it all comes down to results - and on that front Arne Slot is certainly delivering with a club-record 14 victories from 16 games in the bag since taking over from Jurgen Klopp. But when you're a manager of Liverpool, it certainly helps if you 'get' the club, as Ian Doyle explains..

. Liverpool fans aren't fools. They cannot be hoodwinked, and they can smell falsehoods a mile off.

And they have been fortunate enough over the years to be able to determine the difference between good football and something somewhat less appetising. In base terms, Slot "gets it" in the way, in a different fashion, Klopp did. Brendan Rodgers tried hard to grasp it, Rafael Benitez stumbled upon it while Roy Hodgson really didn't understand it at all.

All five, though, were simply being true to themselves and their own character. Not every person can be the ideal fit. Read the article in full HERE .

Share Comments Decisions, decisions It would be a major surprise if any of Arne Slot's four injured players - Alisson Becker, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota - are fit to face Aston Villa. But elsewhere in his squad the Liverpool boss has some major decisions to make - not least up front after Luis Diaz marked his appearance as a centre-forward with a hat-trick in midweek. Our chief LFC writer Ian Doyle has been taking a look at some of the selection posers facing Slot.
