Ariana Grande has been captivating new audiences all over the world thanks to her role as Glinda the good witch in Wicked. The popstar, known for her smash hits such as Thank You, Next and We Can't Be Friends, is thought to have eaten a vegan diet for the past decade or so, despite being 'raised on meat and cheese' as a youngster thanks to her Italian heritage. These popular berries make an excellent addition to smoothies, porridge, desserts or they're just as good eating as a snack.



But aside from being delicious and juicy, they're packed with important vitamins and nutrients that can help to ward off a host of different health issues. One of them being types of cancer, according to the experts at the MD Anderson Cancer Centre . They've noted that not one food can prevent it altogether, but certain types have properties that can boost overall health and reduce your risk of developing illnesses.

Most berries - including strawberries - are rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants. One study has shown the importance of antioxidants in cancer prevention, as they can protect the body from cell damage that could lead to skin cancer, as well as cancers of the bladder, lung, breast and esophagus. Another study suggests that strawberries specifically could help to protect against cancer thanks to a chemical compound which appears to halt the growth of cancer cells in animals.

However, it's worth noting that more research needs to be carried out to further confirm this. Aside from this, strawberries can also help to give your gut health a boost thanks to the fiber content too. This essential nutrient has prebiotic properties, according to one study , meaning they're perfect for fuelling that good bacteria in your gut.

The berries are also rich in Vitamin C , boasting 59mg per 100g, and this vitamin is known for its ability to help maintain healthy skin, bones and immune systems, as well as helping out with wound healing.
