Ariana DeBose has deleted a tweet that appeared to accidentally throw shade at her West Side Story co-star Rachel Zegler. The post shared a quote accusing Zegler, 23, of narcissism, penned by Jonah Platt, son of Marc Platt, the producer of Disney's Snow White remake. The quote came after he criticized the Hunger Games star for her social media activism.

Specifically, her pro-Palestine posts had sparked a backlash as his comment targeted Zegler's outspoken views. As the controversy grew, DeBose, 34, came under fire for sharing the quote without context. Addressing the situation, the actress later clarified that she had not researched the quote's origin and never intended to get involved in the drama.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “I post quotes all the time and thought this one was meaningful. Will fully cop to the fact I did not do any research on where this quote came from, nor did I know of the connection until it was pointed out to me.” She added, “I have no intention of inserting myself into a news cycle.

This is not the first time I've posted about dealing with narcissism and it probably won't be the last, but next time I'll be sure to clarify its origins first.” Though there appears to be no feud between the two, DeBose and Zegler supported each other in their career, especially after Rachel praised her co-star Ariana following her Oscar win. This comes after Marc Platt's son launched a scathing attack on Zegler, while the producer himself blamed the film's poor performance on the lead actress’s "personal politics.

" The latest Disney live-action remake of Snow White struggled at the box office, grossing only $43 million in its opening weekend, despite a production budget of about $270 million. Last week, it was reported that Marc Platt had traveled to New York in 2023 to ask Zegler to delete her pro-Palestine tweet. Responding to a fan's tweet, which read, “Your dad flew to NYC to reprimand a young actress? Any words on this? Cuz that's creepy as hell and uncalled for.

People have the right to free speech no? Shame on your father.” To which Jonah angrily responded, “You really want to do this? He then added, “Yeah, my dad, the producer of the enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20-year-old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicly for." He added, “Free speech does not mean you're allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions," he continued.

"Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of the colleagues and crew and blue collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful." In a post that has since been deleted he concluded with, “Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.” Click here to follow the Mirror US on Google News to stay up to date with all the latest news, sport and entertainment stories.
