‘I have no intention of inserting myself into a news cycle,’ said the actress.

Actress Ariana DeBose is setting the record straight after posting a quote to her Instagram stories, which was a direct criticism aimed at her West Wide Story co-star and Snow White lead actress Rachel Zegler. The 34-year-old clarified she had no idea about the origin of the quote. “I post quotes all the time and thought this one was meaningful.

Will fully cop to the fact that I did not do any research on where this quote came from, nor did I know of the connection until it was pointed out to me. I have no intention of inserting myself into a news cycle. This is not the first time I've posted about dealing with narcissism before and it probably won't be the last, but next time I'll be sure to clarify its origins first,” wrote Ariana DeBose on her Instagram stories.

The clarification issued was concerning her previous story that read, “Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged." For those unaware, the quote was said by Snow White producer Marc Platt’s son Jonah, who blamed Rachel Zegler for posting her personal political opinions on social media, which he believes hurt the Disney movie’s box office performance. Zegler, 23, who plays the titular princess, extended support for Palestinian people after sharing the first trailer of the film in August 2023.

“And always remember, free Palestine,” she wrote in a tweet that garnered over 14.5 million views. This prompted Disney executives to immediately get in touch with Zegler’s team, and Marc Platt reportedly even boarded a flight to New York to speak with Zegler in person.

A week ago, his son, Jonah Platt, 38, who is known for his roles in Netflix’s Uncoupled, defended his father in a since-deleted Instagram comment when a user called Marc Platt “creepy” for reprimanding a young actor. “You really want to do this? Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20 year old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for,” wrote Jonah. He continued, “This is called adult responsibility and accountability.

And her actions clearly hurt the film’s box office. Free speech does not mean you’re allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions. Tens of thousands of people worked on that film, and she hijacked the conversation for her immature desires at the risk of all the colleagues and crew and blue-collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful.

Gadot has been an advocate for Israel and has also served as a combat fitness instructor in the Israeli military for two years. Months following Zegler’s post, Gadot also extended her support for Israel on Instagram, “I stand with Israel, you should too.

The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening!" Snow White is now playing in theatres near you..
