MOUNT VERNON — A non-stop attack from all facets of the game powered Mount Vernon/Plankinton football on Friday night. The Titans raced out to a 32-0 lead midway through the second quarter en route to a 53-14 victory over Chamberlain in a Class 11B football matchup. MVP, which was ranked No.

5 in the latest South Dakota Prep Media poll among 11B teams, had 464 yards of offense for the game MVP quarterback Isaiah Olson was responsible for five touchdowns in the game, going 9-of-12 passing for 188 yards and four touchdowns while adding another on the ground, finishing with 78 rushing yards. Riley Mayer caught five passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns, and Kyle Sandland finished with six carries for 98 yards and a score. Tyce Feistner nabbed 6 1/2 tackles and a sack defensively.



ADVERTISEMENT Chamberlain was held to only 146 total yards, as Brody Neilan finished 7-of-19 for 69 yards passing and ran four times for 20 yards and a touchdown. Chase Knippling finished with a single catch, a 30-yard touchdown reception. Austin Rose recorded six tackles on defense for the Cubs.

MVP (4-1) will host Winner on Friday, Oct. 4 in Mount Vernon. Chamberlain (0-5) will return home next week to host Parker on Oct.

4. TYNDALL — A 24-point second quarter on the strength of three rushing touchdowns helped Class 9AA No. 1-ranked Parkston past Bon Homme on the road.

The Trojans totaled 479 yards of offense, including 333 rushing yards for the game. Kolter Kramer led the team with 129 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown, while Mason Jervik ran four times for 86 yards and two scores. Carter Sommer was 5-of-7 for 96 yards, while adding a touchdown run of his own, carrying a total of three times for 16 yards rushing.

Gage Reichert led Parkston defensively with 13 tackles. Bon Homme’s lone points came from Jackson Kaul, who finished with 11 carries for 37 yards, also recording nine tackles to lead the Cavaliers defense. Landon Schmidt ran 16 times for 53 yards and Zach Humpal recorded the only reception by the offense, totaling five yards.

Parkston (5-0) will travel to Platte-Geddes on Oct. 4, while Bon Homme (2-4) travels to Wolsey-Wessington on Oct. 4.

SALEM — McCook Central/Montrose rallied from a halftime deficit to knock off Parker at home on Friday night in a Class 11B football matchup. ADVERTISEMENT MCM trailed 14-12 at intermission but picked up a 5-yard Mason Sabers touchdown catch from Lane Deutsch before Deutsch hauled in a 56-yard touchdown catch from Ben Wiebersick to put the Fighting Cougars ahead by 10 points in the fourth quarter. Owen Schmidt had a 65-yard touchdown run in the first half and Jackson Schmidt had a four-yard interception return for a touchdown for MCM, as well.

Michael Even had a pair of touchdown runs for Parker, including an 80-yard run in the first half, while Colin Robertson scored from 77 yards out for the Pheasants. MCM (4-2) will travel to rival Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan on Friday, Oct. 4 in Bridgewater.

WINNER — Top-ranked Winner scored 50 points in the first half and racked up 387 yards rushing for the game in a win over Miller/Highmore-Harrold on Friday night in a battle of Class 11B foes at Warrior Field. The game ended in the third quarter via the 50-point rule. Winner had touchdown runs from Zac Olson, Ryken Orel, Karson Keiser, Carter McKenzie, Gus Bartels and Andrew Henderson in the victory.

Olson finished with 87 yards, with 76 yards from Orel, 70 from McKenzie and 54 yards from Keiser on the ground. MHH had 132 yards passing from Derek Brueggeman, including 49 yards to Isaak Hunter, who hauled in a touchdown pass for the Rustlers. BRIDGEWATER — Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan rushed 55 times for 377 yards on Friday night in a convincing home shutout win over Baltic. Holden Wollmann had a pair of touchdown runs in the first quarter from 6 and 2 yards out, while Macklen Weber scored from 5 yards out as the Seahawks led 20-0. Jaxx Kurtenbach also added a pair of touchdown runs from 46 and 12 yards out and KJ Ripley had a 3-yard touchdown run in the first half to set the margin at 40-0 before halftime, which held up as the final score.

Weber finished with 130 yards on 12 carries and Kurtenbach had 91 yards on 10 rushes. Jason Zeeb had seven tackles and Landen Brummett had five stops for the BEE defense. For the Bulldogs, Ben Erickson had a team-high 27 receiving yards and Ryker Rogers rushed for 19 yards on nine carries.

Baltic was held to 45 yards by the BEE defense. BEE (4-1) will host McCook Central/Montrose on Oct. 4 in Bridgewater.

Baltic (0-6) is off before taking on MCM at home on Oct. 11. CANISTOTA — Canistota struck nearly a perfect balance between pass and run — 173 yards through the air and 169 yards on the ground — on the way to a nine-man football victory on Friday night over Sioux Falls Lutheran.

The Hawks’ Blaise Showers threw for three touchdowns on a 4-for-7 passing night and 109 yards, while also rushing for 79 yards and a touchdown. Levi Schroeder had five carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns for the Hawks. Brady Scott caught a pair of passes for 65 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing a touchdown pass and racking up 64 yards with his arm, plus an interception on defense.

Samuele Lotito, Easton Miller and Levi Schroeder all had touchdown grabs for Canistota, which led the game 43-0 at halftime. ADVERTISEMENT For the Eagles, Cooper Ovenden rushed 14 times for 124 yards and a touchdown, while Jake Hohn added a touchdown as well. Sam Borg had a pair of interceptions on defense.

Canistota will have a bye week before an Oct. 11 game at Chester. Sioux Falls Lutheran (0-6) will be back in action on Oct.

5-ranked Blackhawks’ Sam Poncelow tallied three field goals in the game from 32, 36, and 33 yards out, respectively. Tyson Eddy punched it in on the ground from two yards out, and Hayes Havlik added a 10-yard touchdown run of his own.
