BEE, MCM win Class 11B matchups; KWL, FMFA pitch shutouts

WINNER, S.D. — Top-ranked Winner took down No.

4-ranked Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central in a battle of top-five squads in Class 11B on Friday night, with the Warriors claiming a 30-18 victory. Winner rushed for 343 yards in the win, including 198 yards in the second half. Karson Keiser scored twice for the Warriors and finished with 119 yards on 10 carries.



Breven Bolander finished with 101 yards on eight carries and Eli Vobr had a 22-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to stretch Winner’s 8-6 halftime lead to 16-6. Zac Olson had 12 carries for 64 yards for Winner. For the visiting Blackhawks, Holden Havlik threw for 291 yards on 22-for-37 passing.

Ryder Michalek had 13 catches for 135 yards and a touchdown, while Colby Flowers finished with 106 yards on four catches and a 47-yard scoring strike from Havlik. Hayes Havlik also added a five-yard touchdown run for WWSSC. ADVERTISEMENT Winner (4-0) hosts Miller/Highmore-Harrold on Sept.

COLOME — Class 9B No. 1 Avon scored 72 first-half points in an afternoon nine-man football triumph on the road on Friday. The game ended at halftime due to the 50-point rule.

Aziah Meyer had three touchdowns on three rushes in the first quarter, scoring from 49, 27 and 34 yards out for a 110-yard game. Pierce Jonkers did the same with two touches for two scores from 72 and 15 yards out. Brenson Ratzlaff had an 83-yard touchdown run, and Grayson Ratzlaff, Trent Soukup and Devin Rucktaeschel also had touchdown runs.

The Pirates finished with 377 yards of offense — all on the ground — and ran only 13 offensive plays in the win. Colome got on the scoreboard with a 55-yard touchdown pass from Harley Supik to Jonah Musser. Avon (5-0) visits Class 9AA Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Sept.

BRIDGEWATER — A strong defensive effort sent Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan to its third win in a row on Friday night, topping Wagner in a Class 11B matchup. ADVERTISEMENT Macklen Weber had a pair of touchdown runs from 5 and 4 yards out in the first half to put the Seahawks up 14-6 after one quarter. Jason Zeeb had a decisive defensive play in the second quarter, with a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown for BEE to lead 20-6, a score that held up with no scoring in the second half.

Wagner’s lone touchdown came on a Shea Kjeldgaard 18-yard touchdown catch from Carlos Galindo in the first quarter. BEE (3-1) hosts Baltic on Sept. 27.

Wagner (2-3) hosts Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central on Sept. 27. BURKE — A five-touchdown performance by Gentry Bartling lifted Class 9B Burke over Class 9AA Scotland/Menno on Friday night.

Bartling scored four of his touchdowns on the ground, where he racked up 204 yards on 22 carries, adding a receiving score on one of his two receptions for 26 yards. Bartling scored two of his rushing touchdowns during a 14-0 third quarter for the Cougars, which widened a four-point halftime edge into a three-score advantage. Elsewhere for Burke, Kaleb Sconebaum tacked on 119 rushing yards with one touchdown of his own on 17 attempts, while Elijah Bartling finished 7-for-10 through the air for 119 yards.

For the Trappers, quarterback Izayah Ulmer rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown and passed for 90 yards and another score. Bryce Sattler caught two passes for 76 yards and one touchdown and also had a kickoff return touchdown. Trent Guthmiller offered 18 carries for 128 yards on the ground.

4. KIMBALL — Kimball/White Lake defeated Bon Homme behind a big night from Iden Myers. The senior running back finished with 244 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the night.

Elsewhere on the offensive side of the ball, Lucas Lenz finished with two receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown. Park Sinclair was 1-for-3 passing for 30 yards and a touchdown. It’s yet another impressive defensive home performance for KWL.

In three home games, they’ve only given up eight total points. Meyers had an impressive game on the other side with a team-high 10 tackles while Carter Konechne had eight. Ashton Krumvieda had a sack as well.

KWL (4-1) is idle next week before a trip to Stanley County on Oct. 4. While Bon Homme (2-3) hosts Parkston on Sept.

27. The story continues below. SALEM — McCook Central/Montrose knocked Flandreau from the ranks of the unbeatens on Friday night in a Class 11B matchup.

ADVERTISEMENT Owen Schmidt had all three touchdowns for MCM, with a 1-yard touchdown plunge in the second quarter and a 45-yard touchdown reception from Ben Wiebersick to put MCM ahead 14-7 late in the third quarter. Schmidt added a 7-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to put MCM up two scores. Flandreau’s Paul Parsley threw a pair of touchdown passes for the Fliers.

He hit Micah Otto for a 27-yard touchdown for the first touchdown of the game and found Ben Ballard for a 16-yard score late to pull Flandreau within seven points before MCM recovered a late onside kick. MCM (3-2) hosts Parker on Sept. 27.

Flandreau (4-1) is idle next week before welcoming Sioux Valley on Oct. 4. FREEMAN — Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy blanked Alcester-Hudson at home in a nine-man football contest on Friday night.

Phoenix quarterback Riley Tschetter passed for 397 yards and four touchdowns, with Carter Weber hauling in four passes for 146 yards and two scores along with a rushing touchdown. Christoper Aasen and Keaton Preheim also grabbed touchdown catches, while Dominic Sperling rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Sawyer Wipf made 12 tackles and Tate Sorensen added 10 stops for FMFA.

Alaric Knittel had six tackles, including a pair of sacks. For the Cubs, quarterback Tommy Walth had 116 yards rushing but was held to 4-of-12 passing for 16 yards. Jose Topete-Lopez added 58 rushing yards, as Alcester-Hudson had 208 total yards in the game.

27. FORT PIERRE — Gregory scored 44 unanswered points to claim a nine-man football matchup on Friday night, reversing an early 16-0 Buffaloes lead on the road. Colt Keiser had a pair of touchdown catches from quarterback Lincoln Juracek and Rane Kenzy caught a long touchdown pass late in the game, as well.

Cruz Klundt had an interception return for touchdown to represent the Gregory defense. Brendan Bothwell caught a 73-yard touchdown pass from Paxton Deal in the first quarter and Deal also added a touchdown run for the Buffaloes. Gregory (2-3) is on the road to face Wolsey-Wessington on Sept.

27. Stanley County (1-4) plays host to Wall on Sept. 27.
