Jaguars, Wildkats earn shutout wins; MCM bests BEE in rivalry meeting

MOUNT VERNON — Class 11B No. 1 Winner and No. 5 Mount Vernon/Plankinton remained tied until into the third quarter, but the Warriors broke through for a 16-0 win on Friday night in high school football action.

Karson Keiser had a hand in both Winner touchdowns, each coming in the third quarter. He caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from Eli Vobr and rushed for a 19-yard touchdown, as well. It was Winner’s second defensive shutout of the season and fifth time this season allowing eight points or less.



ADVERTISEMENT MVP drove multiple times deep into Winner territory, including with less than 3 minutes left in the game but could not come away with any points. Winner (6-0) will face Lakota Tech on Oct. 11 in a home game.

MVP (4-2) will travel to Miller to face Miller/Highmore-Harrold on Oct. 11 in the Titans’ penultimate game of the regular season. MILLER — Corsica-Stickney outgained Sunshine Bible Academy 357-40 on Friday afternoon for a road nine-man football victory, scoring all 44 points in the first half.

The Jaguars had 303 rushing yards on 39 carries. Waylon Bolle had 12 carries for 188 yards and three touchdowns for the Jaguars, while Caden Baumiller scored on two of his three runs and had 93 yards on the ground. Tate Tolsma caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Max VandenHoek, as well.

Baumiller had an interception and a fumble recovery and VandenHoek added an interception on defense. Tolsma had 12 tackles and Sawyer Schmidt made nine stops on defense. SBA’s Hunter Sybesma had 10 tackles and a sack, while Ross Vander Horst had eight tackles, including two for loss and a sack.

Corsica-Stickney (4-2) will play at Burke on Oct. 11. SBA (2-5) will play its regular-season finale on Oct.

18 in Miller. ADVERTISEMENT The story continues below. FORT PIERRE — Kimball/White Lake earned its fourth defensive shutout of the season on Friday night, blanking Stanley County on the road for a nine-man victory.

Graden Holan had a 28-yard interception return for a touchdown and Dayn Goodman picked off a pair of passes for the Wildkats, who had seven tackles from Carter Konechne and five from Lucas Lenz. On offense, KWL had three touchdowns on the ground from Iden Myers, logging 17 carries for 120 yards. Lenz and Konechne each caught touchdown passes from Keaton Christensen, who finished 5-for-8 passing for 89 yards.

Lenz finished with 54 yards receiving on two catches for KWL. The Wildkats (5-1) will travel to Gregory for their final regular-season road game on Oct. 11.

Stanley County (1-6) will host Potter County in its regular-season finale on Oct. 18. BRIDGEWATER — Lane Deutsch had a hand in four touchdowns to power McCook Central/Montrose to their fifth win of the season on Friday night over Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan.

MCM rallied from a 20-6 halftime deficit for the win. Deutsch caught a 52-yard pass from Ben Wiebesick and had touchdown runs of 73, 21 and 3 yards, finishing with 176 yards on the ground, 52 yards receiving and led the Fighting Cougars with 11 tackles. Owen Schmidt also added a touchdown run for MCM.

ADVERTISEMENT For BEE, Macklen Weber had two touchdowns and 119 yards on the ground, plus 43 yards receiving. Holden Wollmann threw for 96 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown pass to Luke Storm and also had a seven-yard rushing score. MCM outgained BEE 372-308 for the game.

MCM (5-2) closes the regular season with a game Oct. 11 at Baltic. BEE (4-2) will visit Class 11A No.

1-ranked Sioux Falls Christian on Oct. 11. CENTERVILLE — Behind the rushing of Dominic Sperling and passing of Riley Tschetter, Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy cruised to a road win by the 50-point rule in nine-man football action on Friday night.

Sperling compiled 216 yards and four touchdowns on the ground in just seven carries, while Tschetter completed 8 of 9 passes for 213 yards and three scores. Chris Aasen caught two scoring strikes, and Luke Peters had the third, which covered 75 yards. On defense, Peters added four sacks and eight total tackles to his tally.

For Centerville, Alec Austin went 30-of-48 through the air with 373 yards, one touchdown and one interception, with Jase Brouwer catching 10 passes for 109 yards and the score. Austin added a rushing touchdown but was sacked five times to finish with 23 yards on the ground. FMFA (4-2) is on the road to take on Irene-Wakonda on Oct.

11. Centerville visits Gayville-Volin on Oct. 11.
