Quinn Ewers looked back to himself in the Texas Longhorns win over the Florida Gators while throwing five touchdowns in a dominant performance , with Arch Manning seen hyping him up on the sideline with the two in constant discussions. Ewers is in his last season of college football eligibility, set to move on to the NFL Draft next season with Manning set to take over as the starter in 2025. Despite this, Manning came in as the starter for two games this year - impressing while throwing 12 touchdowns to just two interceptions, adding athleticism to the position which Ewers is lacking in.

So much so, that Manning has declined TV interviews until next season while not wanting to take attention away from their starter.

ABC’s Joe Tessitore had stated that Manning passed on a chance for a post-game TV interview earlier this season when he had been in for Ewers, who suffered an abdominal injury and missed two games, with the sophomore quarterback reportedly stating: "This is Quinn’s team right now", while suggesting that he did not want that spotlight. Despite Manning impressing in his two games, Ewers has continued to play at an extremely high level - leading one of college football's most explosives offenses while being expected to be a first-round draft pick in next year's class. While Manning has excited whenever he's been thrown in to play in lieu of Ewers, former Heisman Trophy Matt Leinart has insinuated that he does not believe Manning to be ready yet.

Speaking on the Ryan Russillo podcast, Leinart explained why he believes this to be the correct decision. He said: "I'm not sure they can. Make no mistake about it: Quinn Ewers will be responsible for them winning a national championship when it's all said and done.

I'm not sure Arch is ready, and maybe he can get there, but I think that's Quinn's team." Manning has spoken highly of Ewers over the last 18 months that he's been his understudy, and even acknowledges that his success is a product of what he has learned while being his understudy.
