However, eating out doesn’t have to break the bank.Kayleigh L’Eon, a food content creator, shares videos of taste tests and food deals – including one video on how to score a full meal from Applebee’s for a fraction of the regular price. In the Facebook reel, L’Eon held up two food platters side by side, each containing a side of fries as well as a cheeseburger with lettuce, pickles, and tomato on a brioche bun.
Although the two meals looked nearly identical, the content creator shared that one was the Applebee’s classic cheeseburger while the other was a kids classic cheeseburger.“Do you even know which one it is just from looking at it?” she asked. “Because I don’t, and I have it right in front of me.
”While the meals were very similar, L’Eon noted that they differed quite dramatically in price. She paid $12.99 for the regular classic cheeseburger, whereas the kids meal rang in at $6 less.
L’Eon said that the two meals came with the same amount of fries and weighed basically the same in her hands, but the kids version cost just $6.99 and included a drink. TASTE TESTThe content creator could not definitively discern which meal was which, but assumed that one was the kids classic cheeseburger because it had slightly less hamburger meat.
“You can tell that it definitely does have a little bit less meat than the classic cheeseburger, but for $6, who cares?”“It’s literally the same,” said the foodie. “Same amount of fries, same toppings – and it comes with a drink.”L’Eon pulled the two burgers out of their containers and held them side by side, saying that there was no noticeable difference.

“Next time you’re at Applebee’s and you want to save some money, definitely get the kids cheeseburger,” encouraged L’Eon.WHAT’S THE CATCH?Many foodies flooded the comment section, with some praising the content creator for the hack and others criticizing her for taking advantage of the fast casual chain. Even Applebee’s workers joined in on the conversation, defending L’Eon’s trick.
“As a former person that worked at Applebee’s, I promise there’s no difference at all,” wrote one user. They explained that when a customer ordered a regular classic cheeseburger or a kids classic cheeseburger, the line cooks “never did anything different.”However, several other Applebee’s workers disagreed, coming to the conclusion that whether or not the hack works varied by franchise location.
They argued that there was a “huge difference” when it came to how the two meals were prepared. “I also worked at Applebee’s. There is a difference.
Less meat and smaller portion of fries,” commented one user.Another Applebee’s employee chimed in, noting that the regular burger at their local restaurant was seven ounces while the kids cheeseburger was 3.5 ounces.
