Apple is reportedly preparing to launch the Apple Vision Air, a more affordable and lightweight version of its existing Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The upcoming device is expected to offer similar AR/VR capabilities in a thinner, more accessible form factor. Initially unveiled at WWDC 2023, the Vision Pro launched in select global markets, but its high price point limited wider adoption.

Despite underwhelming sales of the Vision Pro, Apple is continuing its push in the mixed reality space rather than pulling back. While the Air model is expected to be a more budget-friendly alternative, it remains unclear whether it will eventually replace the Vision Pro or simply coexist as a more accessible option.

These material choices could significantly reduce the headset’s weight compared to the current Vision Pro, which weighs around 650 grams without its external battery pack. The Vision Air may also feature a slimmer build and debut in Graphite or Dark Blue color options. As a more affordable alternative to the $3,500 Vision Pro, the Vision Air could make Apple’s mixed reality ecosystem more accessible to a wider audience.
Additionally, Apple’s next-generation Vision Pro headset is reportedly being designed with enterprise use in mind, focusing on reducing latency through a direct connection to Mac devices.
