Apple unveils visionOS 2; New gestures and persona updates revolutionize user experience

Apple has launched visionOS 2, marking the first significant enhancement to the operating system that supports the Apple Vision Pro. Following its announcement at WWDC in June and several rounds of beta testing, the Apple Vision Pro is now receiving an update to visionOS. Owners of the headset can now download version 2.

With the introduction of visionOS 2, users now have the capability to utilize their existing photos from the photo library and transform them into spatial photos. This enhancement involves adding depth to the images, thereby improving the effectiveness of the stereoscopic effect. The Photos application has undergone enhancements to facilitate the management of your image collection and to enable swift access to spatial photos.

During a FaceTime call, users of Apple Vision Pro can share images, videos, and panoramas with one another through SharePlay. Videos within your photo library can be edited using the headset, thanks to the inclusion of trimming controls. For those seeking a more adventurous experience, Apple has hinted at the capability to create and edit spatial videos in Final Cut Pro on a Mac, which can subsequently be viewed on the Apple Vision Pro.

Users of Apple Vision Pro will have the opportunity to utilize new gestures to access the Home View and Control Center, eliminating the need to gaze at the ceiling or press the Top button. To enter Home View, simply look at your palm and tap the dot that appears. In the initial release of visionOS, users were unable to modify the arrangement of icons in Home View.

However, with the introduction of visionOS 2, users now have the ability to personalize the layout of their icons.
