Apple Supplier TSMC May Operate Intel's Chipmaking Facilities

Information. TSMC will own a 20 percent stake in the new combined company, while Intel and other semiconductor companies will own the majority of the shares. As part of the deal, TSMC may share some of its chip manufacturing methods with Intel, and train Intel employees to use them.

Discussions are still underway, and the final details have not been established. The talks between Intel and TSMC were reportedly initiated by the Trump administration in an effort to stymy Intel's decline and bring advanced chipmaking to the U.S.
