Apple said to launch AirTag 2 with 3 big changes next year: All you need to know

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is set to launch AirTag 2 next year with upgrades including improved range, a new wireless chip, and enhanced privacy features, possibly omitting the speaker to combat stalking.

Apple is reportedly looking to working on releasing the AirTag 2 around the middle of next year, according to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Guman. While the AirTag 2 is likely to remain the same as its predecessor, there could be 3 noteworthy improvements in store for the tracking device. The first ever AirTag was launched in early 2021 with the codename B389 and there were rumors that Apple could launch the new AirTag model this year but Gurman, who has a good track record of tracking Apple related news, has stated that AirTag 2 with the model number B589 is progressed in manufacturing tests and Apple is ready to bring it to the market next year.

AirTag 2 to come with 3 key improvements: Apple is said to improve the range of AirTag 2, upgrade the wireless chip onboard and provide privacy related improvements. The Cupertino based tech giant is also reportedly thinking about removing the speaker from AirTag in order to reduce cases of the device being used for stalking. Gurman also states that Apple is planning to launch a Google Nest Huband Amazon Echo Hub like smart home command center which could be launched alongside the AirTag 2 next year.
