Representative Image Apple is expected to launch M4-powered Mac models soon. Despite a slow third quarter for PC and Mac shipments, analysts have predicted potential growth in 2025. This boost will reportedly drive by the rising demand for AI-enhanced PCs, including Apple's upcoming M4 Macs that will support Apple Intelligence .

While Apple's Mac lineup remained relatively stagnant in 2024, with only the M3 MacBook Air update in March, demand for Macs experienced a moderate quarter-over-quarter decline, analysts claimed. According to the data from a JP Morgan report (seen by AppleInsider), Q3 2024 saw a 2% year-over-year decline in shipments and a 6% quarter-over-quarter increase, falling short of the typical 11% quarterly growth. The current demand is primarily focused on budget-friendly models, influenced by the back-to-school season and economic concerns.

However, the emergence of AI-powered computers, including Apple's anticipated M4 Macs, is expected to drive a resurgence in demand. Industry analysts predict a modest year-over-year growth in the mid-single-digit range for 2025, fueled by the increasing interest in AI capabilities and the potential for more innovative devices. How M4 Macs can help the market AI-enhanced computers, featuring capabilities like Microsoft's Copilot+, are expected to be a key driver of growth through 2026 and potentially become ubiquitous by 2030.

The report predicts that Apple's updated MacBook Pros and a rumoured redesigned Mac mini are anticipated to be among the leading contenders in this market. Apple's share in the PC market has been affected by the overall slowdown, dropping from 8.8% to 7.

8% every quarter and experiencing a 2.2% annual decline, the report notes. However, the upcoming launch of Apple's M4 Mac lineup, which is rumoured to become official in late October with shipments likely to begin in early November, is expected to boost demand and potentially increase Apple's market share in 2025.
