Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that the initial sales trends for Apple's new iPhone 16 lineup show varying demand. The regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are selling well, with the iPhone 16 Plus seeing a significant increase in sales compared to last year's model. However, the higher-end iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models are experiencing lower sales compared to their predecessors.

The iPhone 16 Plus, starting at $899, has seen a 48 percent increase in sales compared to last year's iPhone 15 Plus.
On the other hand, initial sales of the iPhone 16 Pro (starting at $999) are down by 27 percent, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max (starting at $1199) is down by 16 percent. One possible factor influencing these sales figures could be the anticipation surrounding upcoming Apple Intelligence features that will be rolled out across all models in the coming months. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple significantly increased production for the initial launch of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, making around six million units compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Apple usually doesn't disclose exact sales numbers, so it's too early to predict if the current sales trend will continue or change once the new iPhones are available in stores. The upcoming holiday season is expected to have a big impact on early demand for all the new iPhone models. Typically, the most popular models may change by the end of Apple's first fiscal quarter.
