Since 2017, when it began manufacturing the first-generation iPhone SE in India, Apple has assembled models like the iPhone 12, 13, 14, 14 Plus, and 15 in the country. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are also made in India for both local and international markets. Notably, Apple has started producing its Pro variants in India for the first time, beginning with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Between 2021 and 2022, production extended to include the iPhone 14, and by 2023, India-made iPhone 15 units were available at launch. Initially, only base models were assembled locally, while higher storage variants were imported.
Over time, production grew to include models like the iPhone 15 Plus, handled by Pegatron. This aligns with Apple’s goal for India to contribute 25% of its total iPhone production within the next two to three years, as part of its strategy to reduce reliance on China.
