Apple is reportedly planning to expand its manufacturing operations in Brazil to reduce the impact of newly imposed U.S. tariffs on Chinese and Indian imports.

The move comes after the Trump Administration announced tariffs of 34% on Chinese goods and 26% on Indian imports, both key markets for Apple’s hardware production. To avoid passing higher costs onto consumers, Apple is looking to scale up its Brazilian assembly operations, which face a lower 10% import tax. According to sources, Apple and its manufacturing partner Foxconn have already received certification to begin assembling the iPhone 16 in Brazil.

The facility currently produces the iPhone 13,14 and 15, and expansion plans include the iPhone 16 Pro, which would require additional investment and restructuring. The expanded operations would serve both local demand and exports to the U.S.

, potentially allowing Apple to sidestep a significant portion of the new tariffs while maintaining competitive pricing..
