The midfielder bagged the only goal of the game in the Shrimpers’ vital 1-0 victory against Oldham Athletic on Saturday. And Appiah-Forson, who was deservedly named man of the match, is keen to keep on producing more of the same. “I just make sure I get in the right positions to get the ball and try and make things happen but I have to keep on doing it,” said Appiah-Forson.
“I’m very happy with my minutes so I’m pleased with myself and where I’ve come from.” Appiah-Forson has now started six games in succession for the Shrimpers for the first time since signing in late August. And he is enjoying linking up with the equally impressive Leon Parillon.
“On and off the pitch we’re quite close,” said Appiah-Forson. “We have a good relationship and it’s going really well.” The midfielders have helped Kevin Maher’s side work their way up the National League standings and they now sit just a point outside the play-off places.
But Appiah-Forson is not looking too far ahead. “It’s a great position but we can’t get ahead of ourselves,” said the midfielder. “We’ve got to keep on pushing and be ready for the next game now.
” Blues head to 14th-placed Sutton United this weekend but Appiah-Forson is expecting another tricky test. And he knows the Shrimpers will need to work hard to pick up points. “On Saturday it started with Macca (Bonne) and Hops (Tom Hopper),” said Appiah-Forson.
“They didn’t stop running the whole game and that just flowed through the whole team. “We’re working hard in and out of possession and we’ll have to do that Saturday too.”.
