Allegations by Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, that Governor Bala Mohammed and others caused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone its 2023 Presidential ticket to the North against the Party’s policy has been countered. Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday, countered stating that it was actually Wike who caused the PDP to throw open its 2023 presidential primaries. Eze asserts that Wike’s claims are “broad daylight lies from the pit of hell” and that it was Wike who actually caused the PDP to throw open its 2023 presidential primaries.

According to Eze, Wike’s actions were driven by his ambition to secure the PDP presidential ticket, leading to the collapse of the Party’s zoning policy in 2022. Wike had stated, “We have always done it North and South,” and claimed that the Party’s unspoken agreement on zoning was undermined. However, Eze argues that Wike deliberately omitted the fact that his own dictatorial tendencies and ambition led to the policy’s collapse.

He said, “With Peter Obi still in the PDP, and following Atiku’s statement that he already had his choice of who to support in the South-East, Wike became jittery and started abusing Obi. “In preparing himself for the elusive 2023 PDP Presidential slot, Wike, like a dog let loose out of its cage, went on rampage, abusing Atiku, and others, boasting in the Church that the slot is just for him and nobody born by a human being can wrestle it from him after forcing Peter Obi out of PDP.

“It is on record that Peter Obi didn’t even let Atiku know of his intention to leave the PDP until he jumped ship to the Labour Party.” However, Wike’s supporters, known as the G-5 Governors, rejected this proposal and voted to throw the presidency open to all contenders. Eze accused Wike of being “hell-bent on decimating the PDP” to maintain his relationship with President Bola Tinubu and advised the PDP leadership to stop attempting to reconcile with Wike, as his agenda is to weaken the Party for Tinubu’s benefit in 2027.

In conclusion, Eze challenged Wike to resign from the APC government and test his relevance, stating, “I dare Wike to resign from the APC government, and see if he will be relevant in the scheme of things.”.
