: The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up for significant reforms in Intermediate education. Kritika Shukla, the secretary of the Intermediate Board, announced several proposals related to these reforms during a media conference. She mentioned that the board is inviting suggestions from students, parents, and educators regarding the changes in intermediate education.
"For many years, there have been no significant reforms in Intermediate education. We are implementing reforms in accordance with the National Curriculum Framework. Changes will be implemented in Science, Arts, and Language subjects.
Starting from the academic year 2024-25, NCERT textbooks will be introduced for Class 10. We aim to incorporate NCERT textbooks in the first year of intermediate education by 2025-26. This will facilitate easier preparation for national-level competitive exams like NEET and JEE," she said.
Kritika Shukla revealed that NCERT textbooks have already been introduced in intermediate education across 15 states. She mentioned that they are proposing syllabus reforms and new subject combinations. Additionally, there will be changes in the system of marking for exams.
As part of these reforms, the first-year intermediate exams will be abolished, and colleges will conduct internal assessments for first-year students. The board will only conduct examinations for the second year of intermediate education. Shukla urged stakeholders to send suggestions regarding the reforms by the 26th of this month.
Details of the proposed reforms have been made available on the Intermediate Board’s official website..
