According to a report from Citi News, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, has revealed that the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) is currently awaiting a response from the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to allow the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, to be made available for questioning in an ongoing investigation involving allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering. The development follows claims made by Rev. Ntim Fordjour that two aircraft recently arrived in Ghana carrying illicit drugs and large sums of cash.
Despite these serious allegations, he has not yet responded to formal requests from the relevant security agencies. During an appearance on Face to Face on Channel One TV, Kwakye Ofosu stressed the need for openness in the matter, noting that the MP’s cooperation is crucial. He also called for the interrogation process, once it begins, to be accessible to the public in the interest of accountability.
He noted that the NIB had formally reached out to the Speaker for permission to engage the MP, and they are now waiting for an official reply. Once approval is granted, Rev. Ntim Fordjour will be expected to assist with the investigation.
“The NIB wrote to the Speaker to release Ntim Fordjour. The Speaker is yet to respond to the NIB, as far as I am aware. Anytime the Speaker responds to it, he will be available for questions,” he said.
