April is one of the busiest times of year in the garden.

With the change in the season, gardeners have begun to work on their gardens . From maintaining the grass to watering plants and taking out the weeds, April is the time when the garden needs your attention again. Keeping all this in mind, a group of experts have suggested that gardeners complete one task this month.

Experts from Country Living say you should start feeding the trees, shrubs and hedges in the garden with a balanced slow-release fertiliser. It is believed that taking this easy step will help them to boost before they come into flower. The experts also pinpoint four flowers you should plant for a "dazzling display" in your garden.

According to the experts, this would be the right time to start injecting the plants with the right amount of fertiliser. They added: "Fork lightly into the soil around each specimen. Make a point especially of feeding roses.

" Expert gardener Sarah Raven believes that April is the best time to plant some vegetables in the garden. She told Country Living: "April is the busiest time in the garden, but don’t panic, take things one step at a time and you’ll get it all done. "With longer days and milder weather setting in across the UK, now is the perfect time to start gardening.

Many people will feel inspired by the recent bright spells and are now looking to lay the foundations for a thriving garden for summer. “April is a good time to plant different varieties of vegetables. "Get your vegetable garden started by sowing salad leaves, carrots, peas, beetroot, spinach, and chard.

To ensure you have a steady harvest of fresh produce throughout summer, continue successional sowing at regular intervals.” Not only this but April is the best month to start planting summer-flowering bulbs, the experts have shared. Ms Raven added: "For a dazzling summer display, plant bulbs such as lilies, gladioli, freesias and crocosmia in early April.

When planting lily bulbs in heavy soil, add grit to improve drainage and help them get established.".
