Anthony Martial will make £7.5million including bonuses over three years at new club AEK Athens, it has been claimed. French forward Martial , 28, left United when his contract expired in June .

He had played more than 300 times for the Premier League club since joining in 2015, scoring 90 goals in total. His deal in Greece represents a pay cut compared to his hefty wages at Old Trafford. However, by AEK's own standards, the pay-packet - equivalent to a little under £50,000 per week - will be the most lucrative they have ever handed out.

Martial is the third United player to move to the Greek Super League this summer, with Shola Shoretire joining PAOK and Facundo Pellistri moving to Panathinaikos . AEK weren't the only club keen on the former Monaco man, but last season's runners-up were able to give him what he wanted. According to Greek outlet Sport24 , Flamengo were also interested but were unable to meet Martial's wage demands.

The same publication indicates he was after more than £3m per year from the Brazilian side, but AEK have been able to provide him with a three-year deal as he looks to revive his career. Martial joins a number of former Premier League players in the Greek capital after a busy summer. Goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha joined from Brentford and former Tottenham winger arrived from Sevilla in July, with Roberto Pereyra and Moses Odubajo also joining following spells with English top-flight clubs.

The new forward arrives as a potential partner for Haitian striker Frantzdy Pierrot, who cost £2.5m from Maccabi Haifa earlier in September. Pierrot scored on his AEK debut in a 2-0 win over Volos, leaving AEK top after four games.

"Dear Manchester United fans, it’s with great emotion that I write to you today to say goodbye," Martial wrote in a farewell message at the end of the 2024-25 season. "After nine incredible years at the club, the time has come for me to turn a new page in my career. Can Anthony Martial rebuild his career in Athens?
