The Pakistan players are on a retirement spree as another left-arm speedster has also bid adieu to international cricket. Mohmmad Irfan has joined Spin-bowling allrounder Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir to take retirement from international cricket. Irfan announced his retirement news via a social media post.
He expressed his gratefulness to his teammates and coaches. “I have decided to retirement from international cricket. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my teammates, and coaches, Thank you for the love, the cheers, and the unforgettable memories and I will continue to support and celebrate the game that has given me everything, Pakistan Zindabad,” Irfan posted on X and Instagram.
Irfan has played four Tests for his country and claimed 10 wickets at an average of 38.90. He made his Test debut against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town in February 2013.
He was last seen at the Test match against the Proteas at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium (DICS) in October 2013. Notably, Irfan is the third Pakistan player to announce his international retirement in three days. Before Irfan, Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir announced their retirement.
Imad Wasim was the first one to do so on Friday that is December 13. Then Mohammad Amir followed suit and announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday that is December 14. Both Wasim and Amir represented Pakistan at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean.
