BUFFALO, N.Y. — Veterans Day is just over a week away, and on Saturday, the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine hosted its annual Smiles on Veterans clinic.

Veterans from across Western New York visited UB's South Campus for free screenings, cleanings, tooth extractions, and denture repairs. "I think it's nice to be able to actually kind of see all the school work you've been doing, all of the hands-on activity that you can actually put that into perspective a little bit when you're actually able to work on people," UB dental student Danielle Sudol told 2 On Your Side. "But it's nice to kind of run something like this, and just see so many happy people leave.

" This is the ninth Veterans Day clinic the UB dental school has hosted. Veterans do not receive dental benefits through the Veterans Administration, so this event helps to bridge that gap. A presentation of the colors by the Niagara Falls Air Force Reserve was part of the clinic.

"They've done so much in terms of what they've been able to give up for us, and so if you're able to give up a Saturday, I don't think it's any match for what they've been able to do for us," Sudol said..
