Patrick Mahomes hasn't played up to his elevated standards despite the Kansas City Chiefs jumping to a 3-0 start. Mahomes again finished with an unspectacular stat line in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The star quarterback completed 26 of 39 passes for 217 yards, two touchdowns, and his fourth interception of the season.

On Monday, Andy Reid spoke to reporters about the Week 3 victory. The head coach credited Mahomes for finishing strong and took accountability for not orchestrating a better start. "I thought he kind of got in a rhythm in the second half," Reid said.

"A lot of that is my responsibility to get him into that rhythm earlier. And so, we'll go back and discuss all that and get that taken care of." The Chiefs are just one of five undefeated teams as of Monday, but they've yet to exceed 27 points in a game.

Mahomes is averaging 7.2 yards per attempt with an 89.9 quarterback rating and 4.

"I feel like I haven't played very well, and that's not a stats thing," Mahomes said Monday, via NFL.com . "I just feel like I'm missing opportunities whenever they're out there and not throwing the ball in the exact spot I want it to be at.

So it's about me getting back to my fundamentals, putting our guys in the right position, and then we've got to execute at a higher level offensively." Reid isn't particularly concerned about Mahomes, who will lead Kansas City into an AFC West showdown with the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday. "There are a bunch of things that we can clean up," Reid said, "but he'll be all right.
