Home | ANC to ask NA Speaker to summon 9 MPs over Israel visit The African National Congress (ANC) study group on international relations and cooperation says it will soon write to National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza to request her to summon nine MPs who recently visited Israel. The nine are members of the Democratic Alliance , Patriotic Alliance and African Christian Democratic Party. The group says their visit seems to have been a one-sided fact-finding mission.
The group’s chairperson, Supra Mahumapelo, insists that the MPs must explain in what capacity they visited Israel. “Everybody knows what Israel is doing – committing genocide against the people of Palestine. Now the other thing is they go there and they call themselves MPs coming from the Republic of South Africa’s parliament.
I have sat with Parliament as the study group. They don’t have a mandate to go there and call themselves MPs. They must go there and represent themselves as individuals.
Everybody has got the right to go anywhere in the world; they can go, but let them not create an impression that they are there to represent the Parliament of South Africa.” VIDEO | DA and PA MP’s private trip to Israel: NEWS APP SABC © 2025.
