Prince Nicolas Ukachukwu has emerged flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election. He polled a total of 1,455 votes to defeat three other contestants: Valentine Ozigbo (67 votes), Johnbosco Onunkwo (26 votes) and Edozie Madu. Chairman of the APC national committee for the conduct of the gubernatorial primary and governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu declared Ukachukwu winner of the election at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka venue of the election in early hours of Sunday.

In his acceptance speech, Ukachukwu thanked President Bola Tinubu, the Otu-led APC national committee, delegates, and all party members in the state for ensuring that the election was conducted free and fair, especially for their confidence in him to fly the governorship flag. He assured that his candidacy would win the governorship election for the APC and issued a red card to the incumbent governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who his party, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), had already affirmed as the candidate of the party in the governorship poll. Earlier before the primary,three other aspirants who filed out for the APC ticket, including a former party national auditor, Sir Paul Chukwuma, a former member of the House of Representatives, Jon Chuma Umeoji, and the chairman/ chief executive officer of the Nigeria United Airline, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, had withdrawn from the contest, alleging irregularities.
