For this Easter, join Trans Niugini Tours on a once-in-a-lifetime trek to the top of Mount Giluwe, Papua New Guinea’s second-highest peak and one of the most remote and majestic climbs in the South Pacific. This is your chance to challenge yourself with a trek through the stunning Highlands, sleep under the stars and experience nature like never before. The adventure starts in Mt Hagen, where you will spend two nights at the stunning Rondon Ridge, a beautiful eco-lodge perched above the Wahgi Valley surrounded by breath-taking mountain views.
From there, your journey into untamed interior begins; trekking through wide grasslands, forests trails, cool mountain streams and ancient slopes to reach the base of Mount Giluwe. The hike itself takes less than two days and you’ll spend one night at the Mt Giluwe base camp before climbing to the top. Local porters and guides will be with you every step of the way, making sure you are safe and supported.
When you reach the top at 4,360 meters, you’ll be rewarded with incredible views of the valleys below that stretches across the highlands; a breathtaking reminder of how wild and untouched this land remains. Mount Giluwe will be a journey through time and terrain; perfect for the adventured spirited with passion for nature. Every step reveals ancient landscapes and lively tribal cultures.
Though the Highlands receive rain year-round, Easter falls just before the drier season (May–October), making it an ideal window for this incredible experience. So, are you ready to trek where only a selected few have gone?.
