Strictly Come Dancing 's Amy Dowden was reportedly in 'huge distress' before she collapsed backstage over the weekend. The 34-year-old professional dancer and her partner, JLS star JB Gill , had just performed a foxtrot to Toploader's Dancing In The Moonlight, earning a respectable score of 32. However, shortly after their live performance, Amy began to feel unwell and an ambulance was called 'as a precaution' .

A spokesperson for Amy later confirmed that she was 'feeling much better' and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of concern from fans. Unfortunately, Amy was unable to participate in the results show which aired on Sunday night. Hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly informed viewers: "Before we get started, Amy isn't able to be with us for tonight's show.

" JB Gill was seen alone on the staircase as it was announced he would be progressing to next week's couple's choice round. There have been recent claims that Amy - who is battling cancer and also suffers from Crohn's Disease - may need to withdraw from the competition due to health concerns. Discussing Amy's health scare, a source told The Sun: "Amy was obviously in huge distress.

Everyone around her was equally upset because they felt so helpless. JB had to be given a hug. Even the medic who first attended to Amy needed support and consolation.

" Amy Dowden's representative has spoken out about her recent health scare, stating: "Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution. She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy's privacy in matters of health is kindly respected.

" The East of England Ambulance Service also provided details on the incident: "We were called just after 9pm on Saturday to attend a medical emergency at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient, an adult female, was taken to Barnet Hospital for further care." Speculation mounts over who might step in if Amy Dowden decides to leave the show for health reasons.

Lauren Oakley, who joined the BBC competition in 2022 alongside Vito Coppola, Carlos Gu, and Michelle Tsiakkas, is currently the only female professional dancer without a celebrity partner. Having not been paired up during her debut series, she remained part of the group performances..
