Director Vignesh Shivan, who is also the husband of actress Nayanthara, has deactivated his X, formerly Twitter, account. Here's why! Published: December 2, 2024 7:42 AM IST By Nayanthara’s husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, recently deactivated his X account (formerly twitter), due to online backlash. The filmmaker reportedly been facing backlash on social media after he attended pan-Indian directors’ roundtable discussion—The Galatta Plus Mega Pan India Directors’ Round Table 2024.

As per reports, some people criticised and also questioned his presence. Few people pointed out that his last film Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal (2022) and his upcoming project Love Insurance Company are not Pan-India projects. The host of the show was also criticised over his choice of guest on his show.

Reportedly, Vignesh deactivated his X account jut few days later after attending the interview. He hasn’t shared any statement yet regarding this. However, his Instagram account is still active.

He has also shared posts on Instagram but didn’t mention anything regarding deactivating his X account. Moreover, this also comes amid his an ongoing legal battle between Vinesh’s wife, actor Nayanthara and Dhanush. Recently, Dhanush filed a case against against their production house, Rowdy Pictures Private Limited for using three seconds of footage from his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in their Netflix docu-drama, Nayanthara: Beyond Fairytale.

Nayanthara took to Instagram and lashed out at Dhanush for trying to block the release of her documentary. She wrote, “A well-established actor like you, with the support and blessings of your father and your brother, an ace director, needs to read and understand this. Cinema as we all know is a fight for survival for people like me, a self made woman with no links in the industry and someone who had to struggle my way to the position I hold today.

I’d owe this to my work ethic that is no secret to all who know me but more importantly, to the goodwill of the audience and my film fraternity.” Nayanthara also mentioned that after two years of battling it out with the actor NOC (No Objection Certificate) and waiting for his approval for the documentary release, the team finally decided to re-edit and settle for the current version since he refused the usage of ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ songs or visual cuts.
